If students have accepted a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan, the parent-borrower must take the next step to apply for this Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan.
During the application process, an evaluation of the parent-borrower's credit is performed to determine eligibility to borrow the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan. If the parent who signed the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan application is approved to borrow the loan, he or she must complete a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). If the parent-borrower is denied the opportunity to borrow the loan, the student will be offered an additional Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
The Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan will not be applied to the student's Kansas State University bill until a valid MPN has been completed and submitted.
The parent who completes and submits the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan Application must be the same parent who completes and submits the MPN.
After the parent-borrower has successfully completed the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan MPN, any future Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan offers the student chooses to accept at Kansas State University will be associated with the original MPN for up to 10 years.
The Parent PLUS Information Request and Parent PLUS Promissory Note "To-Do List" items in the student's Student Center within KSIS will be removed in two business days, after both items have been completed and submitted.
